Having spent her time in several management administration roles in property and trust management for over 19 years, Ana Marais is finally following her passion of running her own business in the pet industry.
Ana is joined by her two daughters to bring happiness to pets and their owners and this trio “girl power” is very excited being new to Austin Lakeway and being part of the Pet family here.

Luzienne is the loving mother to a rescued cat named Octavia. She may have come to us at the beginning of her long medical journey after years of abuse, it took her no time at all to steal our hearts.

Luzienne is the loving mother to a rescued cat named Octavia. She may have come to us at the beginning of her long medical journey after years of abuse, it took her no time at all to steal our hearts.
Luzienne’ s grooming journey began 14 years ago in 2011 when she had the privilege to open the very first Petsmart in my home country of Puerto Rico. “I instantly fell in love with the difference I could make in the lives of all the pets I met,” says Luzienne.
Through hard work, education and a passion to transform her skills, Luzienne spent the next 9 years developing craft while managing and opening 3 different locations before fate brought her to the USA. She then joined PetSmart and during her time there she managed many salons and worked her way up to the PetSmart Academy Instructor, where she had the honor to share in the development of dozens of students new grooming careers. “Teaching has always been a passion of mine since majoring in Pedagogy in college.”
Driven by her constant desire to improve she left PetSmart to pursue a career as a veterinary technician in 2020. While she learned so much during her time there, she was drawn back to her real passion, grooming and in 2021 she joined Barklee’s Pet Salon (formerly Sydnee’s).
“Every day I continue to develop my craft and am fortunate to share and mentor others.
I specialize in caring for elderly and behaviorally challenged pets because I believe that every pet deserves a chance to look and feel their absolute best. I am also one of the shops cat groomers and provide nail trim services to small and exotic pets.” Luzienne.
Luzienne has been instrumental in training many groomers at Barklee’s and is also fluent in both Spanish and English. She is also Pet CPR and Pet 1st Aid certified, and prides herself on being a welcoming space for clients of all backgrounds and gender expressions.
Rosa has more than five years of professional grooming experience and is also a certified veterinary assistant and fully trained and certified in CPR and First Aid.
Rosa joined Barklee’s Pet Salon (previously Sydnees) in March of 2021 and has built up a very loyal customer base who just loves her.

Abigail’s passion for animals started at a very young age. From competitive horse riding at the age of 8, where she gained years of experience with large animals to obtaining my Bachelors in Animal Biology and Welfare in the UK, I’ve been paving my deep love for animals into my career for nearly all my life.

Once Abby moved back to US, she worked in the veterinary field as a vet nurse for 4 years. “I truly enjoyed my role in caring and nurturing all types of animals during sickness or health, gaining valuable learning experiences along the way.”
Abby always had an interest in the aesthetic side of the pet industry, so went through the training academy to become a groomer. “I have since found my passion and fallen in love with my career! After a year of working as a groomer at PetSmart, I joined Barklee’s Pet Salon (formally Sydnee’s) in 2021. I adore the team I work along side, and love the strong relationships I have built with my clients and their fur babies. I will always strive to make your pets feel comfortable and pampered. Laureen gained her training from a grooming mentor of 40 years’ experience, which has allowed her to view the large spectrum of differences in breeds and haircuts over the years. Before Barklee’s Pet Salon (previously known as Sydnees), Laureen worked as a grooming consultant for 4 years at Dog Camp Kennels, where she truly enjoyed her groomer-client relationships. Holly joined Barklee's (previously Sydnees) in April 2022 and has had an amazing journey learning new skills and building up a loyal customer base.
